Seven more deaths have been recorded since yesterday

A further seven people have died as a result of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, according to the latest figures from the Department of Health.

There have also been 1,748 new cases of the virus recorded over the same period.

Currently, there are 461 patients in hospital with Coronavirus, 45 of whom are in intensive care.

A total of 2,470,155 vaccines have been administered.

The latest statistics come after Stormont was recalled urgently to discuss the number of pupils who are absent from school because they are self-isolating due to close contact with a positive Covid case.

MLAs will call on the Education Minister, Michelle McIlveen, to “develop clear and robust guidance” for school staff.

The principal of Larne High School, Stephen Reid, said on Monday that more than half of his pupils have been told to stay at home.
