Pedestrian killed in Magherafelt crash

Police are still appealing for information

A 69-year-old man has died after he was hit by a car in Co Londonderry.

The incident occurred in the Grange Road area of Magherafelt on Thursday.

Chief Inspector Celeste Simpson said police received a report shortly after 5.50pm of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

She added: “Our officers attended, supported by colleagues from partner emergency services.

“However, sadly, the pedestrian – a man aged 69 – was confirmed deceased at the scene.

“The Grange Road was closed for some time but has since reopened.

“Collision Investigation Unit detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of this collision.

“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who may hold digital footage which could assist with our inquiries.

“This includes dashcam, mobile, CCTV or other material. Contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1576 of 6/11/25.”
