37-year-old man arrested as part of clamp down on paramilitary control of communities

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a number of firearms and drugs offences in Derry/Londonderry.

The arrest was made as part of an ongoing investigation into the use of violence to control communities in the city.

Detective Inspector Kerry Brennan of the Paramilitary Crime Task Force said: “This arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into the activities of those who sell illegal drugs and use violence to exert coercive control of communities in Derry/Londonderry.

“Drug dealers remain a priority for the Paramilitary Crime Task Force due to the violent Human Rights abuses they carry out on members of their local communities.

“We will continue to work with our partners and communities in Derry/Londonderry to relentlessly tackle the scourge of criminals who are continually trying to flood their own towns with drugs, who seek to take control of peoples’ lives.  Together we can tackle this.
