Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Arts Programme has joined forces with Streetwise Circus to deliver a new three-year project called Circus Aurora

Have you ever had an interest in the circus? Would learning to juggle, balancing plates and baton twirling be an activity you would like to get involved in? Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Arts Programme has joined forces with Streetwise Circus to deliver a new three-year project called Circus Aurora.

It’s a partnership between the Council’s art programme and Streetwise to offer daytime workshops in circus skills to people who do not normally have access to arts workshops and who want to try something new. The project aims to offer the chance for people from marginalised groups including older people and people living with disabilities or mental health problems, the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and above all have fun.

Outreach sessions have taken place in the Cushendall, Ballymoney, Ballycastle, Limavady and the Portstewart areas. Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is one of only three Councils across Northern Ireland who are taking part.

The project is funded by the ‘Spirit of 2012 Challenge Fund’. Its vision is ‘people empowered to get out, be involved and feel better’. Further sessions will be organised throughout the next two years. For further information please telephone the Arts Officer on 028 207 62225.
