DUP leader Arlene Foster and MLA Carla Lockhart have been targeted by Twitter trolls.

They received what's being described as vile personal abuse about their looks after a picture was posted of them together at a party dinner over the weekend.

Upper Bann Assembly member Mrs. Lockhart has told Q Radio more controls are needed on social media to stop the bullying and harassment of women across the political divide...

Listening to @carlalockhart, well done to you for speaking out...Abusive, nasty or disrespectful comments towards anyone on social media are totally unacceptable. No one should have to tolerate it. All should be reported to PSNI and to the Social Media platform.
