Covid-19: Eight deaths, 1,708 new cases

The Department of Health says a further eight people have died in Northern Ireland after contracting Covid-19.

The department is also reporting 1,708 new cases of the virus here in the past 24 hours.

So far there have been 3,719,679 vaccines administered in total in Northern Ireland.
