Gerry Adams looks set to announce he will retire as President of Sinn Fein.
In a speech to the party's Ard Fheis later today in Dublin he is expected to outline a timetable
for his departure which could take up to a year.
It's thought the 69-year-old had discussed at length his plans with his late party colleague Martin McGuinness. Mr Adams has been a key figure in Sinn Fein for 34 years.
Meanwhile Michelle O'Neill says keeping conflict in the past and building on a shared future is her party's focus.
She also said sectarianism should be a thing of the past.
