The A5 between Strabane and Derry/Londonderry remains closed
Rivers Agency have said the water is starting to recede however police say there's no guarantee the road will open today.
Police are asking drivers to please obey the road closed signs as there have been breaches of the signs and one vehicle ended up in the flood.
Other vehicles are trying to take short cuts via smaller roads which is causing congestion.
The main diversion is via Donemana with HGVs advised to go via Lifford and the Letterkenny Road.
