A man is recovering in hospital after being shot in the leg in a "paramilitary style shooting".
The 22 year old was abducted from Derry - Londonderry on Wednesday evening and taken to Dungiven where he was shot.
He was found injured at Haas Park at around 8pm.
MLA Caoimhe Archibald described it as a "disturbing incident", she said:
"There is absolutely no place for this type of behaviour in our society, it is totally unacceptable.
"I would urge anyone with information to bring it to the attention of the PSNI."
A local councillor was on his way to visit a constituent when he passed the scene.
Councillor Sean McGlinchey spoke to the victim who said he had no idea why he was targeted.
Detective Constable Donnell is keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the Glenowen Park area of Londonderry and who noticed anything unusual or untoward between 6.30pm and 8pm, or anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the Glenshane Road area close to Altnagelvin Hospital, or at Hass Park in Dungiven, between these times. Anyone with information should contact detectives in Strand Road on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
