A man in his sixties has been brutally assaulted in a aggravated burglary in Glynn, outside Larne last night.
Police responded to the incident at around 11:30pm last night after reports that two masked men had entered a house on Glenvale Park.
The victim was then assaulted with a baseball bat leaving him with head injuries.
However, he did manage to get the pair out of the property but once they were outside, they attacked his car with a bat before leaving the scene.
Detective Sergeant Lenaghan said: "This was a brutal assault.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish what occurred, and a motive for the attack.
"We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area last night and saw what occurred, or has information which may assist our investigation.
"We are also keen to hear from anyone who saw any vehicles being driven in a suspicious manner in the area last night, in particular, a silver-coloured Ford Transit van.
