A petition to fully reopen the Blackhead Path in county Antrim has been signed by more than three thousand people in just a day.
Parts of the coastal walkway were closed amid health and safety fears from rockfall.
Nearly 5,000 signatures have been collected in just two days.
But residents want it re-opened calling it a tourist asset that they should be able to enjoy.
They are requesting a meeting with the council to discuss its future.
A council spokesperson said, "We want to reassure the public that Mid and East Antrim Borough Council is doing all it can to get the path reopened as soon as possible.
"It is a real asset to our tourism potential and hugely popular with the local community, but the safety of users of the path is paramount."
