Police issue stern warning over sharing of 'sex act' video online

Police have issued a stern warning to members of the public about sharing a video of a sex act online.

It appears to show two people committing a sexual act at a club in Northern Ireland and has been shared hundreds of times since Sunday evening.  

The video has gone viral and is being shared through the 'Whatsapp' messaging service alongside a picture allegedly showing one of the people involved. 

Police have moved quickly to say the woman is being wrongly identified. 

She walked into a police station in Lurgan on Tuesday to raise concerns and was said to be 'devastated and distressed.'

A police spokesperson wrote online: "Whoever has started this has potentially ruined a girls life, and should be ashamed of themselves.

"If you have seen these videos or sent them on, you can take a step of letting whoever you sent it to know that the girl in the video and the girl who's profile is attached are not the same person.

"The girl I spoke to today has prominent tattoos. She has blonde tipped hair. The girl in the video has neither."

Officers have urged people who've got the videos and screen shots to delete them.

They also asked anyone who sent them on to make it right by 'setting the record straight'.

The Spokesperson continued "If you're one of the creeps who has sent her a friend request or tried to add her to groups, stop it now."

Members of the public sharing the content can also be prosecuted under the communications act.
