A suspicious object found on the Budore Road in Dundrod yesterday has been taken away for further examination.
It has been removed along with suspected terrorist related articles which were discovered nearby.
The security alert is now over.
Detective Inspector Lowans from PSNI Serious Crime Branch said: "Police were made aware of a suspicious object at Budore Road at around 5.30pm on Sunday 8th October, and an operation was immediately put in place to locate the object. A number of roads were closed overnight to ensure the safety of the public whilst our enquiries were carried out. ATO were tasked to the scene today and examined the object which has now been removed along with suspected terrorist related articles which were discovered nearby for further examination."
"I would like to thank the public for their cooperation whilst this operation was ongoing and I would also like to appeal to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area in the past several weeks to contact detectives at Castlereagh on 101 quoting reference number 1143 08/10/17. Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
