Northern Ireland's largest parade commemorates the Relief of the Siege in 1689.

The annual Apprentice Boys of Derry parade takes place later today with thousands set to line the streets.

It's the largest parade held in Northern Ireland, attracting 150 bands from across the UK and Ireland every year.

Around eight thousand Apprentice Boys are expected to take part in the march, which commemorates the Relief of the Siege in 1689.

The main parade begins at 12:30 with the route tracing streets throughout both the city centre and waterside.

Governor of the Apprentice Boys, Jim Brownlee says it's about education as well as commemoration.
