The Southern Trust is to hold a public board meeting later (Thursday) over the short-term future of Daisy Hill's Emergency Department.
It says staff shortages may force the department's overnight closure in the summer months.
The suggestion has sparked local concern and outrage prompting protesters to plan a peaceful picket at the meeting.
