Two men have been arrested following armed robberies in Belfast city centre.
It comes after a man was held at knifepoint in the Athol Street area on Wednesday evening and a similar incident in the Rosemary Street area in the early hours of the morning.
The suspects, aged 34 and 22, remain in custody.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “The incidents took place in the Athol Street area at approximately 8.40pm on Wednesday night and involved two men who robbed their victim at knifepoint.
“The other occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning in the Rosemary Street area of the city centre when a man was attacked by three men who knocked him to the ground and took his mobile phone and bank card.
“One of the men put a knife to the victim’s throat.”
A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, as well as theft from vehicles, threats to damage property and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence as well as theft from vehicles.
Detective Sergeant Faulkner said enquiries are continuing.
“As is usual procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.”
