Two men have been arrested under the Terrorism Act in north Belfast.
It's after the bomb squad removed an item found during searches around New Lodge this morning.
Some homes had to be evacuated.
The suspects - who are 36 and 37 are in custody.
Detective Inspector Andy Workman said: "Detectives from the Serious Crime branch are currently carrying out a number of searches in the Antrim Road / Duncairn Gardens area of north Belfast.
"ATO attended the scene and an item was taken away for further examination. A number of people have been temporarily evacuated from their homes.
"Two men, aged 36 and 37, have been arrested under the Terrorism Act. They have been taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite where they are currently helping police with their enquiries.
"This operation has been necessary to ensure the safety of local residents and we appreciate the patience and understanding of those people who have had to leave their homes."
