The contribution of volunteers living with a disability will be celebrated during Volunteers Week across the Causeway Coast and Glens.
Organised by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, in collaboration with Causeway Volunteer Centre and Limavady Volunteer Centre, a special event will be held in The Royal Court Hotel, Portrush on Thursday 7th June for volunteer organisations.
This year Volunteers Week has a primary focus on acknowledging the roles fulfilled by disabled volunteers and their contribution to our communities.
A barrier to employment can sometimes be created due to disability and in some cases, may prevent people from volunteering.
The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Joan Baird OBE, said:
“This annual awareness raising week is a fantastic way to show our thanks and appreciation to the many volunteers in the local area.
"It is incredibly important to acknowledge the efforts of those volunteers who may have a disability and remind them about the positive contribution they make to society.”
The event in Portrush will run from 11am - 2pm and will include a meal, guest speakers and musical entertainment.
Numbers will be limited to a maximum of two per organisation and will be issued on a first come first served basis.
