Warrenpoint cancer-fighter gives back to care centre

Charis cancer care centre offers a retreat for its clients and their carers. It's funded only by donations.

A Warrenpoint woman battling cancer is hoping to give back to the care centre that looks after her.

Roisin Clerkin was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. SHe underwent a double mastectomy
She and a group of women met during treatment and availed of Charis cancer care's free services.
The centre is completely dependent on donations and offers free pampering treatments, counselling and bereavement services to clients and their carers.
Mrs Clerkin and the group known as the 'Zest for Life Ladies' will hold a table quiz at the Canal Court hotel on Wednesday at 9pm.
Proceeds will go to Charis in Cookstown who provide a haven for Roisin and nearly 4,000 other cancer fighters and their carers.
Roisin praised the centre and manager Imelda McGurkin saying, "You can forget about cancer, you can go in and talk to them. Go and have your treatment and come back, look out at Lough Veagh, walk around the labyrinth just unwind and forget that you have cancer and feel yourself again."
