Barton to remain after being reappointed by the County Board

As was expected, Damian Barton will take charge of Derry GAA for at least another year.  The Newbridge man had his reappointment confirmed by the Derry County Board yesterday.

Barton took the helm at Derry a year ago to the day.  His side suffered a heavy defeat to Tyrone in the Ulster Championship in May of this year.  However, his side rallied well, with Barton  guiding the Oak Leafers to the final twelve of the All-Ireland. His's team defeated Louth, Meath and Cavan along the way before finally losing out to Tipperary.

A former Oak Leafer himself, Barton played in Derry's famous 1993 Sam Maguire winning side.
