Glens keeper McCarey set to face IFA disrepute charge

Glentoran goalkeeper Aaron McCarey has been charged by the Irish FA with allegedly bringing the game into disrepute. 

The hearing is on Wednesday week, November 3rd. 

It follows an incident during the Glens' game against Coleraine last Saturday when the former Wolves player clashed with team-mate Bobby Burns after the Bannsiders grabbed a late equaliser to make it 2-2. 

The IFA released a statement on Thursday afternoon:

Further update re: the incident in the Glentoran v Coleraine NIFL Danske Bank Premiership match at the weekend involving Glentoran keeper Aaron McCarey and defender Bobby Burns

 Aaron McCarey has been charged by the Irish Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee (under Article 17 of the Irish FA’s Articles of Association) with bringing the game into disrepute. 

No sanction has been offered in relation to the charge, however the committee has invited Glentoran to attend a hearing on Wednesday (3 November).
