Linfield will return to Champions League action tonight for the first time in five years when they take on San Marino amateurs La Fiorita at Windsor Park.

The first round, first leg qualifier kicks off at 7.45pm with the return leg next Tuesday.

The winners of the tie will meet Glasgow Celtic in the second qualifying round.

The Blues go into this evening's match without injured defender Jimmy Callacher while La Fiorita captain Andy Selva is also ruled out.

Linfield boss David Healy says he's pleased to be kicking off the campaign at Windsor.

He says his team is better prepared for the European challenge than they were for last year's Europa League qualifying defeat against Cork City.

La Fiorita have competed in Europe for the past five seasons, losing all 10 matches.

So the Blues are hot favourites to go through.

Northern Ireland's other European representatives open their accounts in the Europa League qualifiers tomorrow night (Thursday).

Fresh from signing Dungannon winger Jamie Glackin, Crusaders host FK Liepaja of Latvia.

Coleraine and Ballymena are both in Norway - the Bannsiders face FK Haugesund while David Jeffrey's men are up against Odds BK.

Derry City are away to Danish team FC Midtjylland.
