Northern Ireland were thrashed 6-1 by Germany in their final Euro 2020 qualifier.

Michael Smith had given Michael O'Neill's side a surprise lead in Frankfurt on Tuesday night, but a hat-trick by former Arsenal forward Serge Gnabry helped the hosts to a convincing win.

Northern Ireland will now be in March's play-offs as they aim to reach the finals of the tournament next summer.

They go to Bosnia for a semi-final, then could face the Republic of Ireland in a winner-takes-all final.
