Translink have released CCTV footage showing two pedestrians narrowly escaping being hit by a train. The shocking footage features a potentially very serious incident.

Luckily, the lifeguard on duty spotted the trespassers and can be seen dressed in hi-vis clothing, waving at the train driver to alert them to the danger.  When the train enters the tunnel the CCTV picks up the pedestrians on the left of the tunnel and they miraculously only received some scratches.

Watch the footage below.

Between the beginning of April and the end of August this year there were 304 recorded incidents of pedestrian trespass, with locations such as Whiteabbey, Finaghy, Dunmurry and Antrim featuring in the list of hotspot areas.
