£36,000 worth of suspected drugs seized in South Belfast

Suspected drugs with an estimated street value of £36,000 have been seized in South Belfast.

It follows the search of a house in the Rutland Street area yesterday morning.

A large quantity of herbal cannabis and suspected class A drugs were found.

Five people were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.

Three of them have been released on bail, and two have been released unconditionally.

Inspector Pollock said:

“Officers entered a house at the Rutland Street area of the city shortly after 8:50am yesterday morning. A large quantity of herbal cannabis and suspected Class A drugs, along with a number of other items were located and taken away for further forensic examinations.

“One male aged 20, two males aged 18 years old and two females aged 21 and 18 years old were arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A, B & C drugs and possession of Class A, B & C drugs with intent to supply. The three males were released on police bail pending further enquiries. The 21 year old woman was released unconditionally and received a Community Resolution Notice (CRN) and the 18 year old female was released unconditionally.  

“Police would appeal to anyone who have any concerns or information regarding drugs in the area to contact them on 101. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
