Plans have been lodged to demolish and rebuild a building, which houses a number of busy retail and hot food outlets in the Waterside.
The proposal involves bulldozing the unit which spans from 1 Rossdowney Park and 10 Rossdowney Road, and the construction of a convenience shop, an off-licence and three hot food units at the site.
The new development will also include a petrol filling station and associated access, parking and servicing arrangements.
The plans have been lodged by the Newtownabbey-based Henderson Group, which specialises in the ‘acquisition and development of retail outlets, particularly petrol forecourts and neighbourhood retail schemes’.
The groups website states:
“The Henderson Group Property team provide a specialised service that covers areas from acquisition to project management.
“Henderson Group Property also has operational directorship of the Henderson Retail stores.
“This encompasses responsibility for petrol forecourts, stand-alone sites and neighbourhood centres occupied by tenants such as Subway, Bairds and Winemark.”
It also adds that it has a ‘proven track record in developing state-of-the-art, award-winning sites’
“By carefully addressing sensitive planning issues the company adds real value to local communities while ensuring a sensible, commercial and sustainable retail mix."
