North Coast group, CAN has been recognised by the Causeway Coast and Glens council at a reception in Cloonavin.
CAN is a user led, campaigning network of people who are blind or partially sighted, and their allies.
They work to make services in the borough more accessible for everyone.
The RNIB funded project enables people at local and regional level to lobby on issues that affect them and to bring about real social change.
Speaking after the event, Mayor Joan Baird said:
"I was delighted to personally acknowledge the ongoing work that CAN do in the Causeway Coast and Glen’s area.
"The group have built up an excellent working relationship with Council over the past two years, thus ensuring that our facilities can be accessed and enjoyed by all.
"The group meet monthly and have worked with Council on a number of projects including ‘Portrush Public Realm Scheme’ and ‘Pavement Cafes’.
"I look forward to our relationship continuing in the future.”
