Sinn Fein and the SDLP are to blame for a massive council overspend.
That's from independent councillor Henry Reilly.
Accounts revealed before Christmas showed the council spent one point one million pounds more than it should have.
The costs could be passed on to Newry, Mourne and Down district ratepayers.
It's understood the bulk of the overspend was on employees salaries.
Rate and revenue charge increases and spending and service cuts may be considered.
However it's understood the council has a capital reserve that could be tapped into.
Mr Reilly says the situation is "very worrying".
