It's understood DUP officers will meet later to discuss the process and timetable for the election of a new party leader.
A two horse race for the leadership is now firmly underway - after Sir Jeffrey Donaldson threw his hat in the ring yesterday to join Edwin Poots in the contest to take over from Arlene Foster.
It's the party's first leadership contest in its 50 year history.

Launching his campaign - Mr Donaldson says Northern Ireland's future must be built on the power of persuasion:
The MP for east Belfast Gavin Robinson has endorsed Jeffrey Donaldson's leadership.

While..Mr Poots has already gained the support of several senior DUP members including MP Paul Girvan.
Mr. Poots has already indicated he would not take on the role of First Minister if elected party leader - preferring instead to remain as Agriculture minister.
