Fermanagh and Omagh District Council are trying to attract more new GP's and other medical staff to the area.
They've responded to a recent letter from the former Health Minister, Michelle O'Neill, seeking advice on ways to help their current situation.
Michelle O'Neill addressed the difficulties surrounding the district's issue to attract and retain medical staff and GP's in the area; particularly the South West Acute Hospital.
In the letter she welcomed the proposal for a medical school in the North West; stating that the Department of Health was working closely with the Ulster University in developing a business case that could support its feasibility.
The former Health Minister also stated that the challenges surrounding recruiting and retaining doctors and junior doctors are complex.
However, Senior Management in the Western Trust are working with the NI Medical and Dental Training Agency on the issue.
Throughout the work she has welcomed input from the Council.
In terms of GP services in Fermanagh, Michelle O'Neill also stated that the Health and Social Care Board and Department officials had been working closely with GP's in the area, to ensure the "ongoing sustainability" of services.
Again, she welcomed any input from the Council.
