The dumping of hundreds of litres of laundered fuel at a Newry beauty spot is being described as an environmental crime.
More than 900 litres of illegal diesel was found leaking from cubes at the entrance to Flagstaff Viewpoint.
Local councillor Liz Kimmins says the local community is angered by the discovery.
She said, "Those engaged in dumping their toxic sludge with no respect or care about its potential poisonous impact are motivated by greed.
"I have contacted the Council and asked them to liaise with the Environmental Agency to ensure that the area is cleared as soon as practically possible. Unfortunately the cost of this operation will have to be picked up by the ratepayers."
