A man in his 40's has has been left with a serious head wound and broken ankle after being assaulted by four men with hammers in Bangor.
The gang - who were wearing balaclavas and boilersuits - forced their way into the house in the Lismore Avenue area early this morning.
The victim is in a stable condition in hospital.
Police say they're working to establish a motive for the attack.
A police spokesperson said:
“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident this morning to get in touch with us. Anyone with information should contact detectives in Bangor on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 171 of 13/10/18.”
