Omagh victims campaigner leads survivors to New York

A group of survivors of terrorist attacks are off to New York for a prestigious support programme. 

The Northern Ireland delegation is being led is by a local Omagh woman, Cat Wilkinson who lost her brother Aiden Gallagher in the 1998 Omagh Bombing.

Cat will be accompanying the group who will stay in Manhattan for 1 week. 

They'll be attending an event hosted by New York survivors organisation 'Strength to Strength Global'. 

The group brings children and families from all over the world to offer support and promote healing for those affected by terrorism. 

People affected by 9/11, and the London and Madrid bombings will be attending the event. 

This year they will also be joined by survivors of the Boston and Tunisian attacks. 

Cat Wilkinson will be accompanying 14 year old Belfast pupil, Erin Cosgrove; along with 17 year old Millie Twellf. 

Millie was a survivor of the 2015 tunisia beach attack that claimed 38 lives. 

Reported in the Ulster Herald, Cat Wilkinson said "The kids get so much out of these trips, it gives them a different outlook on life and helps motivate us all."
