Application plans for the Waterside Transport Hub are now being treated as a matter of urgency.
An SDLP Councillor for the Waterside has told Q radio that the British Treasury will underwrite any EU project which has approval prior to the Chancellors Autumn Statement.
Martin Reilly said it's a welcome move to try and ensure that the funds for this much needed transport project are not jeopardised by Brexit.
He said:
"The confirmation that the Department for Infrastructure are now treating the application for the Waterside Transport Hub with some urgency is a welcome development. The bid for the European funds for this project was submitted at the end of August and the Minister has confirmed to me that his officials have been tasked with working with the team in the Special EU Programme Body (SEUPB) to “expedite the assessment process to an early conclusion”.
