Well known Belfast republican and founder of the Provisional IRA, Billy McKee has died at the age of 97.
He was born in 1921 and joined the IRA sometime in the 1930s.
Mr McKee helped lead hunger strikes for political prisoners in the 1970s.
It is also believed he was a former Officer in Commanding of the IRA in Belfast and a member of the so-called 'Army Council".
Billy McKee left the Provisional IRA later to join Republican Sinn Féin in the 1980s.
