The PSNI has warned that two young drivers, who were caught travelling at excessive speeds on the Coleraine Mountain, posed a 'very high risk' of causing a fatal crash.

One young, restricted driver was stopped while travelling at 94 miles per hour.

Meanwhile, a 20 year old man, whose R plates were removed just 6 months ago, was also arrested travelling at over 100 miles per hour while overtaking another car.

Officers were carrying out lazer speed checks on top of the Limavady to Coleraine mountain road on Sunday night when the pair were detected within half an hour of each other.

The incidents happened on the same stretch where an R driver was caught on a dashcam dangerously overtaking just weeks ago.

The PSNI says both drivers will be reported to the PPS.
