A new initiative has been proposed to enhance the safety of the Foyle Bridge and reduce the amount of tragedies.
It's part of the 'Our Future Foyle' scheme, which aims to "utilise the river and it's banks" in Derry/Londonderry and promote improved health and wellbeing across the city.
Through the project, there's plans for what's been described as 'Foyle Reeds' to be erected, which will go along the edge of the bridge and work as as a safety railing.
Foyle MP, Elisha McCallion has welcomed this development and says it will "not only provide a new iconic public art installation along the riverfront and across the Foyle Bridge, but would also form a safety barrier and help reduce tragedies along the riverbank."
The Our Future Foyle initiative will also see the creation of unique pods called 'Foyle Bubbles' which will also be located along the riverbank.
