A security alert in Strabane has now ended.
The alarm was raised yesterday evening following the discovery of a suspicious object in the St Mary's Drive area.
Army technical officers examined the device and declared it a hoax.
Detective Sergeant Richard Donnell said:
“The object was quite large and located in a busy area, so we are hopeful that someone may have seen something to assist in our enquiries. I am appealing for people to check their dash cams if they were in the area between 4pm-5pm yesterday. Anyone with any information can contact detectives at Strand Road on 101 quoting reference 1379 01/06/19.”
Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
