Blues thrash cops to kick off season and Healy calls for more fans when league starts

Linfield have kicked off the domestic football season by thrashing PSNI 6-0 in the Toals County Antrim Shield.

Niall Quinn and Jordan Stewart both scored twice and there was one each for Matthew Shevlin and 17-year-old Joshua Archer on his debut.

The remaining first round ties are due to be staged this Saturday.


Monday night's game at Windsor Park was watched by a restricted crowd in the North Stand of 150 Linfield members.

Blues boss David Healy hopes there'll be more fans in all stadiums when the Danske Bank Premiership starts on Saturday week:

Linfield and Coleraine have reached agreement for Gareth Deane’s loan deal to be made permanent and the 26-year-old goalkeeper has agreed a two-year contract with the Bannsiders.
