Linfield have made another summer signing - this time from Scandinavia.

Blues boss David Healy has snapped up 22-year-old Danish midfielder Benny Moller Nielsen, who had been on trial with the club.

The seventh new recruit at Windsor Park in the past few weeks, he previously played for Odense Boldklub, Silkeborg IF, VSK Aarhus and Aarhus Fremad in his native Denmark.

Linfield have said: "He comes from a family with a rich footballing pedigree - his father Tommy is the senior head scout at Manchester United and formerly a first team coach at Rangers.

"His grandfather Richard famously led the Danish national team to success in the European championships in 1992."

The youngster has spoken to the Blues website: "I’m delighted to sign for Linfield. I always wanted to play in the UK, so when this opportunity came along, I couldn’t say no.

"I know Linfield is a big club with a great history and I want to do all I can to help bring success to the club.

"As soon as the manager contacted me and said he wanted to bring me back here from Denmark, I said yes straight away."

The other high-profile new faces at Windsor are Lorcan Forde, Jonathan Smith, Joel Cooper, Daniel Kearns, Michael O'Connor and Ryan McGivern.

They'll all be hoping to make their competitive debut in Saturday's showdown at Glenavon on the opening day of the Danske Bank Premiership.

Meanwhile, ex-Blues player Paul McElroy is set to leave Dungannon - the Swifts say the attacking midfielder "has been placed on the transfer list by mutual consent."
