Spain were crowned champions after having previously lost three finals

Spain have won the Women's Under-19 European Championship, beating reigning champions France 3-2 in a dramatic final at Windsor Park last night.

The sight of Spanish teams lifting major trophies has become commonplace over the past decade.  However the U19 Spanish side had previously been beaten in three finals.

La Roja were made to work for it, as the came from behind twice to secure the title, scoring twice in the final five minutes.

In a repeat of last year's final in Slovakia, France took the earliest of leads when Mathilde Bourdieu opened the scoring within 3 minutes.

Spain drew level on 17 minutes via tournament golden boat winner Patricia Guijarro, leaving it at one apiece at halftime.

The French regained their lead on 70 minutes via winger Emelyne Laurent.

Les Bleues were 6 minutes away from glory, but Spain's Egurrola got on the end of a free-kick to finish from close range, tying the scores at 2-2

Two minutes after conceding, French full back Pauline Dechilly was sent off after receiving her second yellow card.

Spain took full advantage of the disparity in numbers, as on 89 minutes Guijarro bagged her second of the game, and her fifth of the competition.

It was then left to Spain to keep-possession until the final whistle as La Roja were crowned champions.
