The latest set of figures from radio industry body RAJAR have revealed that Q Radio’s following continues to grow, with an additional 41,000 listeners year on year.

The Northern-Ireland wide Q Radio network now has a total of 289,000 listeners per week, giving them their highest recorded figure to date.

Q Radio listeners are tuning in for an average of 6.9 hours per week, with 43% in the 25 – 44 year old age bracket.

Managing Director and Head of Programmes at Q Radio, Robert Walshe said: “We have a brilliant line up of presenters and music, which means that once a new listener discovers us, they tend to stay with us!

“Key to our success is our ability to connect with and establish close bonds with our listeners, understanding the type of content they want and what’s important to them in a local radio station.

“That in turn allows us to strengthen our relationships with our commercial partners, which is a crucial part in allowing us to continually evolve and innovate the way that we do things.

“All in all, we’re very happy with these results from RAJAR and thanks to some exciting plans in the pipeline I’m confident we’ll continue to move on a strong upward trajectory,” he added.

The RAJAR reporting period covers Q1 of 2017.

Q Radio has stations based in Belfast, Derry, Newry and Mourne, Omagh, Mid Ulster, Ballymena and the Causeway Coast.
