The unprecedented erection of Irish Tricolours near Coleraine town centre is being described by a loyalist councillor as "deliberately provocative".
Masked men overnight placed number of Tricolours on lampposts at the town's old bridge and in the nearby religiously mixed Waterside area.
Their action comes ahead of a loyalist band parade in the area tomorrow evening.
