The impact of a temporary one-way system in Newry isn't just affecting drivers in the city.

Businesses along the Belfast Road are also feeling the pressure of reduced income.

Many of the firms on one of the main roads into the city rely on passing trade, but the system in place is discouraging drivers to stop

The temporary measure was put in place yesterday to facilitate major roadworks and will be in place for the next four weeks.

Businesses on the road were given two month's notice by letter, and after getting in touch with the rates office they've been informed no compensation for loss of revenue will be paid out.

Owner of Number Seven Cafe Chris Fletcher, says they all appreciate and welcome the investment but the coming weeks will be difficult for them and their staff:

Other businesses on the road have also expressed concern. Some have had to cut staff hours in response to the drop in trade.
