George Hamilton's remarks had been met with criticism

George Hamilton tweeted about how an officer feeling the weight of pressure should "dry their eyes, do the job or move on."
In a statement, the Chairman of the Police Federation for Northern Ireland Mark Lindsay said his comments were offensive and bewildering.
In response, the PSNI chief has expressed an apology via his Twitter account.
