Plans to dump dredging waste in Carlingford Lough are causing concern over the border.
Warrenpoint Harbour's preparing an outline study to support an application to bury waste material in the lough instead of the Irish Sea.
It says the move will cut costs and improve safety.
But County Louth councillor for the Green Party, Mark Dearey told Q Radio the impact on health and on wildlife must be examined in an independent environmental assessment:
