The MP for Strangford is self isolating at home after sharing the same dining table as anther MP who broke Coronavirus rules.
Margaret Ferrier, from the Scottish Nationalist Party has apologised after travelling from Glasgow to London with symptoms and took the train back after testing positive for Covid-19.
Jim Shannon says he was alerted by the Speaker's Office that he was a close contact of someone who had tested positive for the virus.
A spokesperson for Mr Shannon's party, the DUP said, "Upon receiving this news, Mr Shannon immediately self-isolated and on Thursday afternoon he received a negative Covid-19 test result.
"Mr Shannon sought and at all times has followed the advice of Public Health England and the House of Commons’ Covid-19 team in dealing with every element of this incident."
Meanwhile, Scotland's First Minister and leader of the SNP Nicola Sturgeon, is urging Margaret Ferrier to quit for breaking coronavirus rules as she doesn't have the power to sack her.
The whip's been withdrawn meaning she's no longer a member of the Scottish National Party.
Mrs Sturgeon said the coronavirus rules 'apply to everyone' and that is is not acceptable when so many others are sticking to the rules.
