A local MLA's said it's "astounding that the Executive has no strategy to promote tourism here."
Justin McNulty was speaking ahead of moving an SDLP amendment in the Assembly.
He's calling on the Executive to deliver a costed Tourism Strategy.
The Newry and Armagh MLA says the it should build on the success of local agencies in new niche tourism.
He said, "It's astounding that the executive has no strategy to promote tourism here, especially in the fields of sport and activity-based tourism where recent successes have put us on the map.
"A reduction in VAT for our hospitality sector and an increase in ease of travel around Ireland must be a priority if we are billing to host major sporting events and increase tourism here."
