A man in his thirties has been arrested on suspicion of murder by detectives investigating the death of Ashling Murphy in Tullamore, Co Offaly.
The man is being held in Tullamore Garda Station.
Ashling Murphy (23) was attacked during a run along the Grand Canal outside Tullamore on January 12 and died from her injuries.
Her funeral took place this morning.
The young woman was a teacher and talented musician.
Symbols of Ms Murphy’s life were brought to the altar during Requiem Mass, including a fiddle, a Kilcormac/Killoughey camogie jersey, a family picture, a school book and her photograph.
Mourners heard how Ashling had "epitomised the beauty of life, and shared her passion, gifts and talents with others so generously".
