A man has died after a house fire in the Clooney Terrace area of Derry/Londonderry yesterday.
Police were called to the scene just before 5pm, along with colleagues from other emergency services.
Inspector Lavery said: “Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service extinguished the blaze but, sadly, a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Police are conducting inquiries into this death, on behalf of the Coroner. At this stage, the death is not being treated as suspicious.”
A statement from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said: "The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 16:55 on Sunday 12 September following reports of a fire incident in the Clooney Terrace area.
"NIAS despatched one Emergency crew to the incident.
"However further reports from NIFRS who were at the scene indicated that an ambulance was not required at the scene and the crew was stood down from the incident."
